Leigh Woods has increased in popularity over the years and regular visitors will have noticed that at peak times the car park is full and there is often inconsiderate parking along the avenue.
Forestry England have made changes to encourage sensible parking and to protect the avenue, which forms part of a wider Schedule II landscape, and create additional capacity, but despite their efforts they now feel it is necessary to enforce parking charges.
They will be introducing pay machines on site this summer. These will be cash free machines that accept card payment only. Regular visitors could benefit from a membership pass - not only will you be supporting your local forest in Leigh Woods, but you will receive free parking for a year plus a range of benefits and discounts.
Money generated from these charges will go back into the cost of managing Leigh Woods woodland and ensure it can be maintained for generations to come.
