A very big thank you to the 33 adults and 4 children with an age range of 90 years, who gave up their Sunday morning to collect the rubbish from the verges and lanes in Abbots Leigh from Beggar Bush Lane to Martcombe Brook and St Katherine's School and along Church Road, Manor Road, Weir Lane and Sandy Lane.
All sorts of rubbish, including things you wouldn't want to describe, car tyres, and stuff thrown out of the windows of passing cars made the usual substantial pile by the phone box to await collection by the North Somerset Council team the following day.
It was very worthwhile and we can only hope (probably in vain) that it remains tidy, but it is significantly better than it was. We look forward to next time we will be
able to retire to The George Inn afterwards to exchange tales about what we have unearthed.
