The New Abbots Leigh Parish Council

Your Council is now at full strength and is comprised of the following:
  • John Blain
  • Audrey Telling
  • Simon Talbot-Ponsonby of West Barn, Home Farm Road.
  • Gill Coleman of Rutherglen, Manor Road.
  • David Parkinson of Fishponds Cottage, Manor Road, and
  • Mike Crabtree the Clerk to the Council.
Simon Talbot-Ponsonby: Many of you know Simon and he already has a number of issue responsibilities in the Parish Plan regarding promotion and use of cycle paths in our parish. He also has a keen interest in recycling and has taken over Pip’s input to the Link on “Recycling & Rubbish”.

Dr Gill Coleman (Senior Research Fellow, School of Management., Bath University) was brought up in Bristol and moved with her family, husband David and 3 children now in their 20s, to Abbots Leigh last year. She found the Council’s weak spot at the APM by asking what our policy on sustainability was! I am very glad to have her as one of our team and am sure that among other inputs she will make us all more “green” in our outlook.

David Parkinson has been in the village since 1998, works for the BBC and is a member of the Gardening Club. He looks to maintain the character of the village whilst building on the many Parish Plan initiatives.

Over the next few weeks the website will be updated with photos of us all, contact details and a list of those subjects for which each one has taken lead-responsibility. This information will also be posted on the Parish Notice Boards and in the George Inn.

I am sure you will not be shy on coming to us with your questions and concerns!

John Blain
